As a bona fide “bass book addict,” I am always on the lookout for the next “must have” instructional book. For those of you who also suffer from information access addiction, look no further! Bass Blueprints is an incredibly well–written soft cover book that presents a literal step-by-step method for creating bass lines and grooves that outlines chords in multiple positions on the neck. This thorough book (with accompanying CD) employs diagrams and tablature that makes it very easy to “see” the fingerboard patterns of arpeggios, triads, and basic and extended chords.
This book is amazing, and I’m insisting that my more advanced students purchase it! Dominik Hauser is a great teacher and the play-along CD is easy to decipher, especially when the student begins sounding out compound chords, extensions, and inversions. If you’re interested in learning more about chords, you should definitely check out Bass Blueprints.
