Brent-Anthony Johnson

Brent-Anthony Johnson is a producer and composer who plays 6-string and 4-string, fretted and fretless, electric and acoustic bass guitar and contrabass. He studied with bassists Michael Fitzmaurice, Kirwan Brown, Kai Eckhardt, Kim Stone, and Jimmy Haslip and has taught privately since 1979. Brent-Anthony has also taught at Naropa University and at the University of Colorado in Boulder, and has been an active clinician since 1988. He is currently recording his first release as a leader since releasing the co-led offering “Sleep Drum” in 2002. Known to the bass community as “BAJ,” he contributes interviews and editorial pieces to a number of popular bass websites and forums.
