The event will be held at Douglas Corner Cafe, 2106 8th Ave. South #A, Nashville TN on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 7 pm. Scheduled to play are Bass Player columnist/solo bass Icon Dave Pomeroy, Chicago bassist Vuyani Wakaba, Atlanta solo bass artist Darren Michaels, Ugli Stick bassist Quintin “Q” Berry, Tim Smith (Bonnie Bramlett, Bill Evans) and Mr. Groove, and Roy Vogt and his Urban Legends Band. More Artists are being booked at this time and the roster will expand. Tickets are $10 at the door and the proceeds will benefit the W.O. Smith Community Music School in Nashville, TN in a memorial gift honoring the late Nashville bassist and music educator Charles Dungey. Come on out and celebrate all things bass and help raise money for a very worthy cause.

Occurring for the fifth consecutive year, The New Hampshire Bass Festival will bring musicians, guest artists, clinicians, teachers, music enthusiasts, friends, and family together for four days in Manchester, NH. NHBF 2011 features faculty from three different continents and will hold an official celebration of The Year of The Reading Bassist. Guest artists include Todd Johnson, Shane Allessio, Ebinho Cardoso, Rick Shaw, Dom Moio, Sergio Groove, Sam Pilafian, Brent Rusinow, Celso Pixinga, Grant Stinnett, Ney Neto, Jim Stinnett, Rob Gourlay, Everett B. Pendleton, Chris Mewhinney, Tom Arey, and Thiago Espirito Santo. These performers will be featured in evening concerts that will conclude each of the four day’s events.

The New Hampshire Bass Festival is a combination of school and fes- tival. Participants have the opportunity to attend classes scheduled every hour from 9:00am to 6:00pm. These classes are presented by guest educators and clinicians with outstanding resumes in their areas of expertise. The NHBF student demographic consists of adult professionals, hobbyists, young aspiring professionals, and educators seeking continuing education that represent eight different countries. NHBF prides itself on creating “a harmonious environment where all at- tendees share their love for the bottom end,” says Director, Jim Stinnett. Jim goes on to say, “My goal in founding a bass festival in New Hampshire was to provide quality education and the highest level of entertainment. We have done this successfully and are now celebrating our fifth anniversary.” Past guest artists and clinicians have included: Rufus Reid, Steve Bailey, Michael Manring, Bruce Gertz, Marshall Wood, Seth Horan, Joe Hunt, Dino Govoni, and Dave Buda.

As Artistic Director of Stinnett Music, Jim Stinnett is currently a Professor at Berklee College of Music where he teaches Arranging and Bass. As a highly respected educator, Jim presents clinics and workshops all over the world. His extensive list of publications include: The Music of Paul Chambers, Arcology, Creating Jazz Bass Lines, All Cows Eat Grass, Reading In Bass Clef, Slap Bass Workout, Strong Foundation, and 12 Keys to Success.

Jim is a prolific producer, writer, and arranger. He is the founder of the Bass Workout and musical director of the New Hampshire Bass Fest. His credits also include performances and recordings with Joe Diorio, Lionel Loueke, Rufus Reid, Michael Manring, Ernie Watts, Phish, John LaPorta, Tal Farlow, Phineas Newborn Jr., Jean-Pierre Rampal, Ernestine Anderson, Sam Rivers, Red Garland, Buddy DeFranco, Anito O’Day, Roy Haynes, Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, Florida Gulf Coast Symphony, and Musicisti Americani Camber Orchastra in Italy.

Stinnett Music was created in 1978 when Jim Stinnett published his first book, The Music of Paul Chambers. At that time it was uncommon to produce and distribute one’s own product; Jim’s desire to maintain the quality and integrity of his work led him to start his own business. After the initial publication of The Music of Paul Chambers, followed the simultaneous publication of two more music education books, Creating Jazz Bass Lines and Reading in Bass Clef. Jim’s characteristic style of teaching multiple bass players in a single lab lead to the creation of The Bass Workout, a multiple day intensive practice session for both double and electric bassists. As The Bass Workout’s student demographic reached the international level, Stinnett Music Online was created to provide music education on the Internet. As of today Jim and Grant Stinnett have taught and performed nationally and internationally in places such as Ossich, Austria; Feldkirchen, Austria; Sao Paolo, Brazil, Sao Luis, Brazil; Santos, Brazil; London, England; Los Angeles, California; and San Francisco, California.
