Exciting but trying times!
It has never been more evident to me that the most trying but exciting time in my personal life is the present. This is also true in the one business I have spent my entire life in, the good ol’ music business. True to form, my brother Jon came to me about the opportunity to purchase Bass Frontiers Magazine for re-launch as an online publication, along with partner Gene Fox.
Had I known what lay ahead of me I probably would have opted NOT to pursue this venture… this is usually the case when we go into things blindly. However, this can also be how life events work in our favor. Had I known at age 19 what I would endure over my years as a professional bassist, I am sure I would have joined the military or pursued a traditional education, rather than the seat-of-the-pants “School of Hard Knocks” I chose.
But I can stand here today and say that I am happy with the choices I’ve made, and the good ol’ music business has been good to Dave Fowler. It has been very trying, but as the old saying goes, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.” Hence the purchase of Bass Frontiers!
I am truly blessed, have zero complaints, and am so excited about Bass Frontiers. Our goal is to bring you a magazine that is very informative, educational, and always relevant. Our vision is to bring you many facets of our shared passion for the bass and music in general. If there is anything you want to see, hear, or learn about we intend to present it to you. From our perspective, this is your magazine. This was founder Jim Hyatt’s vision many years ago, which we believe to be the fundamental reason you connected with Bass Frontiers. We have every intention of staying true to this premise.
We will offer you stories of inspiration, health, instruction, product news, trouble-shooting gear, and many others. We have a wealth of great ideas we look forward to bringing to life.
We thank you for your support, and want to hear from you, so please feel free to contact us and participate in your magazine. We will accept articles from our readers – we can’t promise to publish them all, but they will be reviewed for consideration. If you visit the Nashville area, check with us regarding the Bass Luncheons that we host for the Nashville bass community. All are welcome to attend.
We hope to see you soon. Stay safe, stay healthy, and please fasten your seatbelts… We are about ready for takeoff!
