February 2012: Dave Fowler

Welcome to 2012! What an exciting time to be alive, especially in the music industry. So many things are changing so much more rapidly than before. While I know many people see this as a bad thing or they’re scared of what may come of it, some of the best times in music history have come out of unsure times or through brand new innovations. Having a positive mental attitude is extremely key for what can come your way or not. 2012 is a new year and a new shot at exercising that theory. These are the principles of success.

For the first time in a few years, we were not able to attend Winter NAMM as a solid entity. We had some eyes and ears on the ground watching stuff for us, but the editorial staff was not able to make it. We were very sad not to be able to catch up with a lot of the people who we work with to make Bass Frontiers the best it can be for you. However, one of the strong suits of this magazine is that all of our staff are working musicians recording, gigging, and composing on a constant basis. This will always help to make sure that you, the reader, get the information and advice that will be of REAL WORLD use to you. Some stuff looks good on spec, but doesn’t hold a cent when it gets on stage. That’s what’s important to us.

Speaking of stuff that looks good on spec (but holds WAY more than a cent in quality and practicality!), we are partnering with one of the greatest bass companies in the world, Fodera, to give away an Emperor Standard model 5-string bass! That’s right. Odds are you probably have lusted after a Fodera at some point and now we’re giving you the chance to have one of your very own. The giveaway will be drawn on March 31st, and all you have to do is be a registered user of Bass Frontiers and Club Fodera. Both of these are free to join, so it’s just about as low risk, high reward as you can get!

Keep checking back with us, as we have some fantastic things planned for you this year….
