Gone But Not Forgotten – Charles Fambrough

It is with great sadness that I inform you that the great bassist Charles Fambrough died yesterday, January 1. Charles lived in Allentown for the last several years and was waiting for a possible liver transplant that never came.

Please remember him in your prayers. God’s orchestra just got a whole lot better.

“Charles Fambrough (August 25, 1950 – January 1, 2011) was a Jazz bassist and composer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Fambrough was a member of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers during the early 1980s. He also played with Freddie Hubbard, Airto Moreira, and Shirley Scott to name only a few.”
