Quintin Berry

There’s nothing crazier than watching Quintin Berry play the bass upside-down like a violin, no doubt about it. It’s always strange when you hear someone play an instrument so well, and then you find out how the way they do it is nothing like what you’ve ever understood to be feasible. Still, that kind of thinking applied to the advent of slap bass, or two-handed tapping. Quintin is about five levels even over that! Recognized by Stuart Spector Designs, Essential Sound Products, and Victor Wooten, Quintin has the credibility to be a true bass phenom rising. The first time I got to see Quintin play in person was at last year’s Summer NAMM here in Nashville. What amazed me about Quintin wasn’t the fact that he could get decent noise out of the instrument, but he was playing a real variety of music, and well. It’s one thing for true individuality to work for novelty’s sake, but it’s another when it’s pure, from the heart expression. That’s what Quintin Berry is; pure, from the heart, thumping bass.
Oh, he’ll also play the bass “traditionally.” This man will blow your mind.
