Marco Mendoza, a superb bassist who has worked with Whitesnake, Ted Nugent, among many others, and is currently with Thin Lizzy has graced us with, to say the least, a spectacular release with Casa Mendoza.
The smooth and funky bass lines of tunes like Stevie Wonder’s “Livin’ In The City”, a groovin’ version of “Suzy Q”, and gracefulness of “You’ve Got a Friend” are a just of the sampling of what is about to come. An abundance of soulful vocals, jazzy piano solos and accompaniment, latin grooves, slamming funky drums, remnants of hip-hop, and screaming guitar leads are present and melded together with precision.
Marco showcases his true talent and it is apparent that his family is a great influence on him. This is a release that will not disappoint and leave you wanting much more from Marco. Casa Mendoza contains not only the three cover tunes, which Marco truly makes as his own, but also contains tunes such as “Trouble”, “You” (one of the grooviest ballads I have heard in quite some time), “Circle of Live”, Kingdom of Paradise”, “Are You There”, “Betty Joe”, “Faith”, “Crying Out”, “Get Ready”, and “Tu”.
All of the musicians on Casa Mendoza are top notch. Of course, Marco is on bass and vocals, Rafael Moreira on guitars, Steve Weingart on keys, and Joey Heredia on drums. These guys had fun doing this record and you can tell as it is very energetic with lots of feeling. This is one release that you need to take it for a spin. Casa Mendoza is available on iTunes and from amazon.com
