Video Interview: Keith Horne

I first met Keith Horne at a bar I played at here in Nashville called “The Stagecoach.” I was blown away when I heard him play, not only was he great, he was playing upside down and left-handed. On a side note, guitarist Brent Mason used to play with the Don Kelly Band at the Stagecoach. The old Stagecoach is long gone now as there have been many new places that have opened to showcase local Nashville talent. Chet Atkins once took George Benson there to see Brent play many years ago, so it was once a “hotspot” to see some of Nashville’s newest and best talent. Keith introduced himself when I went on break and we instantly became friends. He is a very warm and kind man, his playing ability speaks clearly for itself! I have known Keith to be a very kind person, and in addition to being an amazing bassist, he also plays guitar, and steel guitar. I don’t mean “dabble,” he can actually gig on them. He is a lefty and plays them all from the left hand perspective. Overall, he is a very impressive musician and has a deep appreciation for all kinds of music. I feel, as I have stated many times in my Editor’s notes, this is key to being a GREAT musician. Additionally, he has overcome a huge weight issue and is now healthy. He works out like a maniac and eats a very clean diet. He has done very well since moving to Nashville, TN and continues to be sought after by many top artists and producers as a touring and studio bassist. Thank you, Keith, for allowing Bass Frontiers to spend a little bit of time with you!

The following interview was over the Christmas break here in Nashville. We hope you enjoy it!
