Warwick Custom Shop Masterbuilt Katana NT 5 String with Natural Satin Finish #17-3421
Today’s MAKING OF video shows the “birth” of an extraordinary Warwick Custom Shop Masterbuilt Katana NT 5 string bass. Although this bass is an eye-catcher in every respect, the AAAA Koa top wood and matching headstock as well as the US Swamp Ash back stand out in contrast. The softly curved body of this Warwick Katana NT 5 string harmonizes excellently with the neck-through construction (maple neck with Ekanga stripes), the light maple fingerboard with black dot inlays, the Warwick machine heads with wooden knobs, the tasteful natural transparent satin finish and the gold hardware.
24 extra-hard jumbo bronze frets are precisely set into the maple fingerboard with IFT (Invisible Fretwork Technology). Active MEC J/J pickups are used in combination with active Warwick 3-way electronics. The integrated lithium battery can be recharged via USB cable without having to unscrew the wooden cover. Other hardware details include a Just-A-Nut III brass nut, illuminated fretboard side markers, a 2-piece solid Warwick brass bridge, and Warwick Security Locks. A handmade leather RockBag® is included.
The wood selection and many production steps were done by Nicolas Wilfer, son of the company’s founder and owner Hans-Peter Wilfer, at the request of the customer (KORG Japan, Warwick distributor for Japan).
Musically, this MAKING OF video is underlined by ‘Story of a Man’ und ‘A New Soul’ by Alberto Rigoni.
